Description: The Chair of Social Justice promotes and informs NAfME-Texas membership about educational policies and pedagogical practices that relate to the equitable distribution of resources and access to music education in Texas. The Chair creates opportunities for NAfME-Texas members to engage in professional development, mentorship, and collaboration related to social justice issues.
Responsibilities:
Attend virtual meetings with the Executive Board every 6–8 weeks;
Report on policies and practices relevant to social justice in music education;
Develop initiatives to support music teachers and music teacher educators on issues related to social justice;
Attend the Annual Business Meeting and Annual Membership Meeting, typically held in February at the TMEA Convention in San Antonio;
Submit at least one written report annually of activities and goals; and
Assist in other activities of NAfME-Texas as needed.
