2021 Annual Membership Meeting

(To be held virtually on Zoom)

Our Annual Membership Meeting is an opportunity to find out more information about NAfME-Texas and hear about both state and national initiatives. You do not have to be a member of NAfME-Texas to attend. We will be introducing our newest additions to our Council of Chairs, including:
  • Chair of Social Media – De'Evin Johnson (Ridge Point HS, Fort Bend ISD)
  • Chair of Social Justice – Julian Luke (James Madison HS, Dallas ISD)
  • Collegiate Chair – Nyadia Thorpe (Navarro College)
  • Chair of Culturally Responsive Pedagogy – Adrian Rodriguez (Stephen F. Austin HS, Fort Bend ISD)
We are also excited to have Adrian Rodriguez as our keynote speaker this year!

Keynote Description
Over the last 40 years, the love for Kermit’s rendition of Rainbow Connection has bridged generations and remains treasured by adult and child alike. What can we—teachers, leaders, musicians—glean from our beloved, banjo-plucking amphibian? What if we —the lovers and dreamers—were to adopt a praxis of (re)imagination? How do we honor the tension between tradition and a world that is still in the making, a world that our students are calling for? How might our classrooms transform if their voices serve as a pedagogical underpinning?
